The festivities in Naas for the Irish National Hunt Festival kick off yet again with the 2008 Miss Punchestown Competition. The competition, run in aid of charity, is now as popular as the races themselves and is a nationwide contest open to all female applicants aged 18 years or older. The judging of the 2008 Miss Punchestown Competition will take place in the Naas Court Hotel, Naas, Co Kildare on Sunday, 20th April at 8pm. The Irish National Hunt Festival runs from Tuesday, April 22nd to Saturday, April 26th.
The MC for this charity event is TV3’s Martin King and the successful candidate will be selected by a carefully organised panel of judges, which includes Debbie O’Donnell (Producer of TV3’s entertainment show XPOSÉ), Gillian Quinn (wife of Sunderland chairman, Niall Quinn), PR Guru, Valerie Roe, uber stylist Celia Holman–Lee, Matt Chapman (At The Races presenter), along with some other well-known personalities.
TV3’s Martin King said: “This is my 4th year to host this prestigious event it’s a great way to kick off the festival… and that’s just me! It’s the best fun you’ll have on a Sunday night with your clothes on!!”
All proceeds of this year’s event will go towards Naas General Hospital, which was established in 1922. Naas General Hospital serves the catchments area of Kildare and west Wicklow and the hospital currently has 243 patient beds, which include 18-day service beds.
An important aspect of the hospital’s role is the provision of a 24-hour Accident and Emergency (A/E) service. Together, the hospital provides equitable and quality patient care, delivered safely by skilled and valued staff, through the best use of available resources.
This year’s overall winner should possess qualities, which include enthusiasm, energy and the ability to represent a well-established cause.
The 2008 Miss Punchestown will receive a prize package, which includes –
- All-inclusive VIP package for ladies day at the Punchestown Festival.
- Gift package from Newbridge Silverware.
